Uruguay 0-2 France, Brazil 1-2 Belgium, Sweden 0-2 England, Croatia 2-1 England and Belgium 2-0 England proved spot on for Dew.Vavavoom, who also benefitted from tipping France to beat both Belgium and Croatia, albeit by inaccurate scorelines, to finish 720 points clear of their closest rival among 607,000 participants.

Wteam5000’s brilliance in the middle rounds contributed heavily to their seizing of second spot and a brand new 10.5-inch iPad Pro. Wteam5000 correctly guessed three successive scorelines in Round 3: IR Iran 1-1 Portugal, Australia 0-2 Peru – including having Paolo Guerrero to score the last goal – and Denmark 0-0 France. Wteam5000 then precisely predicted Uruguay 2-1 Portugal, Spain 1-1 Russia and Croatia 1-1 Denmark in the Round of 16.

The top 20, listed below, will all receive a Hyundai 2018 FIFA World Cup™ Premium set, which comprises an adidas Telstar 18 – the tournament’s Official Match Ball – a cap and a backpack.

Ozil retires from German national team – FIFA on GBP Sports

  • Ozil calls time on international career
  • Midfielder won 92 caps for Germany over nine years
  • 2014 World Cup winner retires “with a heavy heart”

Midfielder Mesut Ozil has retired from the German national team after nine years, having pulled on the Mannschaft shirt 92 times during that period.

The Arsenal playmaker announced his decision via social media on Sunday, with the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ winner explaining “it is with a heavy heart and after much consideration that because of recent events, I will no longer be playing for Germany at international level”, having felt he has been on the receiving end of “racism and disrespect”.

The 29-year-old made his debut on 12 August 2009 against Azerbaijan, going on to score 23 goals and play an instrumental role in their World Cup triumph four years ago. His final game for the national team came in the 2-0 defeat to Korea Republic, which saw the side eliminated from Russia 2018 and exit at the group stages for the first time.

Ozil had been criticised for a picture posing with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in May, with the former Real Madrid player remaining silent on the subject until Sunday.

  • Italy and Portugal the first teams to qualify for 2019 U-20 World Cup
  • European sides join hosts Poland
  • Norway set for a play-off with two more sides booking their spots tomorrow

Italy and Portugal secured their places at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019, having secured the top two spots in Group A of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Finland.

The pair become the first sides to qualify for the tournament, joining the hosts in the 24-team competition, after 1-1 draw with Norway proved enough for Italy, while Portugal saw off home side Finland 3-0. Norway, who finished third, will face a play-off with the third-placed side in Group B as they aim to reach their first U-20 global finals for 26 years.

Gli Azzurrini finished third at Korea 2017, beating Uruguay on penalties in Suwon, having seen the South Americans eliminate Portugal by the same means in the quarter-finals.

On Monday, current holders England face a stern test against France as they look to defend their title next year. Currently locked on four points with Ukraine at the top of the table, the pair edge Les Bleuets by a single point going into Group B’s final games. Turkey, meanwhile, are up against it in their hopes of returning for the first time since hosting in 2013, needing to overturn a three-point gap to France, as well as a substantial goal difference deficit.
