Australia coach Bert van Marwick has culled six players from his preliminary 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ squad.
The six names culled from the squad announced last week are striker Apostolos Giannou, goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak, defender Aleksandar Susnjar, as well as three players who featured at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia – Bailey Wright, Jamie Maclaren and Alex Gersbach.
Among the headline names in the squad are Tim Cahill, who is looking to become the first Australian to play in four World Cups, and Brazil 2014 captain Mile Jedinak.
Australia will gather for a training camp in Turkey before international matches against Czech Republic (1 June) and Hungary (9 June).
Australia have been drawn in Group C at Russia 2018 alongside France, Denmark and Peru.
All squads are provisional until the final list of 23 players is announced by FIFA, following their submission by participating teams, on 4 June.
